Nostalgia DVDs and videos
Councillor David Nixon, Mayor of Newark, with Joanna Parlby from the Newark Advertiser (programme sponsors) and Andrew Blow at the launch of Bygone Newark at the Town Hall.
Blow By Blow have produced several local nostalgia DVDs and videos, obtainable inexpensively from this website and from local retailers.
Our Bygone videos of Lincoln and Newark (price £14.99) show “your home town as it used to be” from approximately the 1920s to the 1970s.
Pre-war films showing the people, fashions, shops, and transport of the time in town centre streets which are still familiar today are very popular.
In practice this means that many shots of yesteryear, originating on old film stock but now transferred to professional video, are available to inform and improve our current projects. (Sometimes permission from original copyright holders is required)
This is of particular interest to educationalists and those dealing with planning and regeneration issues.
