Bygone Lincoln Two Video
Bygone Lincoln Two (VHS) was the result of a collaboration between the Lincolnshire Archives and Blow by Blow Productions.
Rare films of Lincoln and district that had been donated to the Archives are seen here. The video begins with a visit from the late Queen Mother when she was Duchess of York in 1931 to attend a service of thanksgiving for the rescue of Lincoln Cathedral which had been in grave danger of structural collapse.
We see how the city celebrated their silver jubilee of King George V in 1935 and the 250th anniversary celebrations of the Lincolnshire Regiment in the same year.
There is lots of footage of the city centre in the 1960s. Highlights from other collections include the flying Scotsman's visit to Lincoln in 1969 and a Lincoln team who represented the United Kingdom in the share some frontier competition in 1972.
The Lincolnshire Archives in St Rumbold Street is a service provided By Lincolnshire County Council.
The video is researched produced and narrated by Andrew Blow.
Please note that this video has been incorporated, along with Bygone Lincoln One, into the new Bygone Lincoln DVD.
